Why buy the bundle, when a couple of line items plus the Base OE would do today?
Buying HP-UX 11i v3 operating environments can reduce your initial purchase price for the software and its support by up to 74%—compared to purchasing the software components and their support separately.
Purchase time is the beginning of the savings. With our OEs, you will save precious time each time you apply a proactive patch bundle, HP-tested and integrated to apply to your OE.
It’s about the confidence that all 159 software products in the Data Center OE, for example, will get you up and running immediately—without software version conflicts, without missing pieces, without headaches.
Save now. Save later. Reduce costs—not confidence—with HP quality at the whole operating system level.

When it comes to buying HP-UX 11i software, our customers ask “Which is the better deal: buy a higher level OE (HA-OE, VSE-OE, or DC-OE), or buy Base OE plus some layered software? How much will the OE save me in software license plus support cost?”
Our simple answer: Up to 74% savings in combined license and support costs.
The majority of HP-UX 11i v3 customers buy an OE higher than Base OE. They buy HA-OE, VSE-OE or DC-OE for the functionality; and they benefit from the savings.
But the answer isn’t always simple. HP-UX 11i v3 is licensed per core, with prices tiered according to server size; support prices follow the same plan. Server size is determined by the number of processors. Some of the layered software licensing and support is priced per system, others per core. So depending on what system tier and OE you’re considering, the answer varies. That’s why we offer the chart below. |
The chart below
uses abstracted reference prices: your local prices may
vary, but the percentage savings should be similar.
For components priced per-system, for example Auto Port Aggregator (APA), we have applied the full price here.
We’ve compared the OE prices to component prices in the fairest way we could. For example, in the VSE-OE, we could compare to the VSE Suite, which offers the virtualization software at a discount versus the pieces, or we could compare to the line item prices for each piece of software. We used VSE Suite prices.
Remember: this data is provided as an illustration of OE savings versus stand-alone software purchases, not as a price quote! Work with your sales rep to see your local prices and savings.
If you’re working with another UNIX operating system vendor, make sure they’re quoting all the pieces of software you need, to be sure you’re comparing like-for-like, and that your business benefits from the functionality—not just the savings. |
