HP will ship HP-UX 11i v3 in four new OEs that deliver complete software environments designed to address specific customer requirements. The new OEs are available only for HP-UX 11i v3 on HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers.
The new OEs are great news for existing customers with support contracts. You are entitled to upgrade to the new OEs according to the trade-in map at no additional cost. For each original OE, the new OE delivers more high-value software and for no additional cost.

The Data Center OE delivers built-in business-critical virtualization, featuring HP Serviceguard—the most widely used cluster software in the industry—HP's leadership Virtual Server Environment components, and the complementary software to ensure uninterrupted and optimized data center technology. DC-OE delivers the superset of HP-UX 11i v3 business value.

HP-UX 11i v3 High Availability OE (HA-OE) |

|
For customers requiring continuous access to data and applications, the HA-OE delivers the protection of Serviceguard and related software. HA-OE also delivers all the software in Base OE plus what has shipped until now in the Enterprise OE.

HP-UX 11i v3 Virtual Server OE (VSE-OE) |
|
|
The VSE-OE is designed for customers seeking higher resource utilization or who are embarking on consolidation projects and need virtualization for a flexible UNIX environment. The VSE-OE contains all the products included in the BOE (and the original EOE) and adds a host of other products including the entire VSE Suite.

The BOE provides an integrated HP-UX operating environment for customers requiring less complex installations. The Base OE includes the entire original Foundation Operating Environment (FOE), and offers complete HP-UX functionality including security, networking, Web functionality, and software management applications.

HP-UX 11i v3 is the recommended version for HP-UX 11i users, because it delivers the highest return on investment for the lowest cost of ownership among HP-UX versions, and compared to other UNIX offerings.

The new OEs further drive down TCO by reducing operations costs associated with installing, integrating, and maintaining your UNIX environment. Not only has HP integrated the software so it installs correctly 'out of the box' to meet your needs, but also, software updates arrive already aligned with your installation and integrated for faster and easier updates.
Your HP support contract entitles you to upgrade to HP-UX 11i v3 and to the new OEs for no additional cost, according to the map to the right. Your original OE on the left entitles you to the corresponding OE on the right. Check it out and you'll see that, in all cases, you've just gained additional software at no additional cost.
