'We recently implemented HP-UX 11i v3 on HP Integrity servers in our SAP production environment. Version 3 gives us a rich set of management tools to tune our environment for outstanding performance and efficiency. The operating system's deployment and configuration features let our system administrators automate routine maintenance, simplify complex tasks and save time.'

HP-UX 11i v3 already enables powering down floating cells, I/O cards and idle processors. HP facilitates power planning with Capacity Advisor and a set of power calculators.
With SAP liveCache, SAP recovery after a failover takes less than two minutes.
Serviceguard A.11.19 eliminates planned downtime associated with cluster maintenance and configuration.
It delivers fully integrated advanced resource management to reduce custom scripting, avoid human error, and provide a fully supported environment.
For a typical HP Integrity rx3600, that's a 50% reduction in downtime. This enhancement is just in time to save planned downtime, when you upgrade from older releases of HP-UX 11i v3 to Update 4!
HP includes Disk Scrub for your convenience, compared to locating open source tools for overwriting drives.
Note: Disk Scrub is not the solution for you if your requirements include DoD or other tool certification, verification of data erasure, degaussing or physical destruction of a hard drive prior to disposal.
Enhancements to SMH plug-ins expand management scope and simplify multi-system management:
HP-UX 11i v3 allows you to set queue depth for each LUN or LUN path, but most system administrators leave the queue depth at the default value (8), resulting in lower performance for some LUNS when others are not in use.
Update 4 moves queue depth to a higher scope, and automatically tunes the server resources to those on the target storage devices. With Update 4, you should see faster performance, fewer parameters to tune, fewer invoices for additional storage.
