HP-UX 11i v3 Update 2: Versatility
HP announces the second update to HP-UX 11i v3 and newly designed Operating Environments (OEs) – simplifying business-critical UNIX deployment and management while enhancing performance and configuration flexibility. HP-UX 11i v3 enhancements – along with a better way to purchase and deploy the software – deliver increased business return with reduced cost, time and risk.

New OEs deliver today's UNIX more quickly, easily and cost effectively

HP has been delivering pre-tested and factory-integrated environments for over seven years. The latest release of HP-UX 11i v3 OEs extends this leading integration simplifying the way you can purchase and deploy the software. The new OEs also now include the full suite of business-critical virtualisation software built-in.

Driving Versatility: HP-UX 11i v3 Update 2 – proven and enhanced

HP-UX 11i v3 Update 2 – the third release of HP-UX 11i v3 – provides a highly available environment that is versatile for business-critical workloads. HP-UX 11i v3 supports a number of features that simplify and automate operations – which in turn reduce planned and unplanned downtime and address operational costs.
Customers will enjoy many benefits from the preferred HP-UX 11i v3 version:
  • New HP-UX 11i v3 OEs: business-critical UNIX made easy
  • Continued performance improvements, with up to 100% faster network performance and continued mass storage stack acceleration
  • Support for higher performing options: USB 2.0 and Fibre Channel host bus adapter
  • vPars support for HP-UX 11i v1, v2 and v3 all within a single nPartition – for consolidation and ease of transition
  • Simplified management with event monitoring integrated with System Management Homepage and SIM 5.2, in EMSWeb
HP-UX 11i customers will also enjoy more flexible configurations with Update 2 and its software:
  • Serviceguard support for cross-subnet failover, allowing the use of routers
  • Dynamic Root Disk (DRD) support for root volumes managed by VxVM Release 4.1
  • SMS 2.0 availability, especially enhancing Oracle data access by 10x in HP Integrity Solution for Oracle Database

    Whether you run today on HP 9000 or on HP Integrity servers, you can benefit from the new OEs. Support contracts entitle existing customers to upgrade to the new HP-UX 11i v3 OEs – richer sets of software – for no additional cost. That means more for less.
    For both platforms, HP announces the ability to mix HP-UX 11i v1, v2 and v3 in vPars within an nPar. That means you can explore HP-UX 11i v3 on your existing HP-UX 11i systems using partitions, in advance of upgrading an entire system or purchasing new hardware.
