At the core of HP-UX 11i networking is a versatile implementation of the TCP/IP stack, capable of simultaneous support for both version 4 and version 6 of the IP protocol. Built around that core, leveraging extensive experience with trend-setting customers, are networking products in the areas of mobility, multimedia, Internet and web services. These products are engineered with a solution orientation providing complete coverage for the enterprise datacenter and the service provider network.
Continual investment is made to ensure that the core maintains its competitive advantage. The latest additions to the core include IP over InfiniBand; improved handling of sporadic bursts of traffic through new congestion window revalidation methods; increased communication throughput with Linux systems using mechanisms like Large Initial ssthresh; improved loss recovery performance through the use of selective acknowledgement and the April 2004 New Reno Modification to the TCP Fast Recovery Algorithm for more effective retransmit.
The core is engineered to be future proof with the most thorough support of the next generation Internet Protocol in the industry.
As leader in the IPv6 community, HP through HP-UX 11i delivers the best implementation of IPv6 with a completeness of solution unmatched by others.
Wireless technologies and highly capable mobile devices are important and necessary elements of a Mobile IT Infrastructure but they are not sufficient. A Mobile IT Infrastructure needs to address the following issues.
With in-depth technical expertise and practical experience with pioneering deployments, HP-UX networking engineers have gained unique insights on these issues. Their know-how and insight are encapsulated in the implementation of the HP-UX 11i Mobility Solutions
The Suite consists of all software products necessary to deploy, manage, and implement mission critical web servers. The suite is comprised of:
HP Zeus Web Server is scalable, high performance web server software available, underpinning business-critical solutions for the world's leading hosting, content provider and secure e-commerce companies. Flexible web-based management, extensive integration capabilities, and comprehensive range of features available from commercial server software, combine to provide fully extensible and future-proof web-based solutions for HP-UX 11i.
The HP-UX 11i Network Server Accelerator for HTTP (NSA HTTP) is a networking feature that improves Web server performance by maintaining an in-kernel cache of recently accessed Web pages.
SCTP supports multi-homing, delivery of data in multiple streams, and preservation of message boundaries. It also supports acknowledged, error-free, non-duplicated transfer of data; fragmentation of data to conform to maximum transmission unit (MTU) size; and optional bundling of user messages into an SCTP packet.
SCTP also includes mechanisms such as checksums, sequence numbers, and selective retransmission of data. In addition, it supports congestion control algorithms, SYN flood protection, and error handling.
As a technology pioneer in the digital revolution of the entertainment industry participating in all stages of the digital media experience from creation, distribution to consumption, HP has unique expertise and capabilities in meeting these requirements. HP-UX 11i provides not only a robust and scalable platform for applications but also a set of capabilities specifically designed and optimized for the delivery of rich digital media.
