» Risks of unsecure mobile printing

When employees print from mobile devices in the office, at home, or on the go, printing security becomes a whole new challenge.

Exposed data
In an unfamiliar environment, employees may attempt “workarounds” to print the documents they need. This includes emailing documents to unauthorized users, storing data on unprotected flash drives, using personal email accounts, or even attempting to install unauthorized printer software and drivers.

Unprotected prints
Documents printed to a new printer or in an unfamiliar area are often left at the printer, unmonitored, for long stretches of time until the employee can retrieve them. Sensitive documents could be read or inadvertently picked up by someone else.

In the increasingly mobile world of business, HP solutions can protect you from needless risk. Learn more with these helpful HP tools:

» Secure printing in the office

Business travelers or employees can print safely and securely even when using an unfamiliar printer.

HP ePrint Enterprise —Mobile users can print securely using a smart phone and use keyword searches to find nearby printers in their enterprise network—no matter where they are at the workplace.*

And HP ePrint Enterprise can be configured to support access control and pull printing solutions for additional security.

Pull printing encrypts and sends print jobs to a protected server. Once the user is verified at the printer, the job is pulled from the server and printed.

HP Access Control Printing Solutions —A way to manage who can use mobile printing functions, as well as audit, track, and monitor the printing and sending of documents by employees in or out of the office.

*HP ePrint Enterprise requires Internet- and email-capable BlackBerry® smartphone OS 4.5 or newer, iPhone® 3G or newer running iOS 4.2 or later, HP webOS device running webOS 1.45 or 2.0, or Android® device running version 1.4 or newer, with separately purchased wireless Internet service, HP ePrint Enterprise server software and HP ePrint services app. Solution works with PCL5/6, PCL3, PCL3GUI printers (HP and non-HP). BlackBerry requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) deployment. HP webOS app available June, 2011.

» Secure printing on the go

Employees on the road can locate a printer where life and business take them—while maintaining job confidentiality. Print jobs are held until you release them with an authorization code at the mobile print location.

HP ePrint Mobile Print Locations —An easy and secure way for on-the-go employees to print documents using a smartphone. Users just use the HP ePrint app to locate a nearby print location and hit print. A release code will be emailed to their smartphone for use at the printer to pick up their documents.

Mobile Print Locations include:
  • Fedex Office
  • Hilton Hotels
  • Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges
  • Print locations powered by PrinterOn®

» Secure printing at home

Telecommuters can turn their home printers into a secure extension of the office printing fleet.

With VPN, telecommuters can have a safe way to securely access documents on the company network and print them on their home printing devices, all while staying behind their company’s firewall. That’s because the print drivers reside on secure HP cloud servers. And HP LaserJet Pro and Officejet Pro telecommuter solutions are designed to leverage the remote monitoring and management capabilities of HP Web Jetadmin software.
