Use less energy with energy-efficient printers and energy-saving innovations and ideas from HP.

HP has made energy efficiency a habit. As part of the HP Eco Solutions program, we’ve developed energy-efficient printers and technology to help you save energy too. The HP LaserJet P1505 personal laser printer requires less than half the power to operate, prints twice as fast and is a fraction of the cost of the industry’s first personal laser printer—introduced by HP 25 years ago.

What you can do

Look for products that comply with eco-label criteria, such as ENERGY STAR®.
  • The majority of HP imaging and printing products are ENERGY STAR® qualified—offering energy-saving efficiencies of up to 55 percent over standard, non-qualified models.1
Look for products designed with energy-saving technology.
  • Instant-on Technology—an energy-saving technology found in most HP LaserJet printers—provides up to 50 percent energy savings over traditional fusing. And with Instant-on Technology, you’ll still be able to print your first page in seconds—up to 50 percent faster than competitive products.2

  • Save more energy on nights and weekends by using HP Web Jetadmin to preset your printing devices to enter sleep mode faster, yet still wake quickly and easily when you need them.

  • Get clean, reliable, energy-efficient LED technology with Instant-on Copy from HP. This technology consumes four times less energy in low-power mode and 1.4 times less energy in copy mode compared with fluorescent tubes. With Instant-on Copy, copy jobs begin in a matter of seconds from low-power mode—even first thing in the morning.

  • While many products use energy even when off, HP LaserJet and inkjet products consume less than 1 watt of energy in off mode.
1 ENERGY STAR® qualified HP LaserJet printers are over 10 percent more energy efficient than standard, non-qualified models. ENERGY STAR® qualified HP LaserJet multifunction devices are over 20 percent more energy efficient than standard, non-qualified models. ENERGY STAR® qualified HP inkjet all-in-one devices are over 55 percent more energy efficient than standard, non-qualified models.

Did you know?

If every home office product purchased in the U.S. this year were ENERGY STAR® qualified, we would save $200 million in annual energy costs and prevent almost 3 billion pounds of greenhouse gases—the equivalent of the emissions from 250,000 cars.3

More than 15 years ago, HP became one of the first companies to participate in the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR® program.

Twenty-five years ago, HP introduced the industry’s first personal laser printer. It required 850 watts of power to print, printed eight pages per minute and was priced at $3500. Today, the HP LaserJet P1505 personal laser printer requires 377 watts of power to print, prints twice as fast and costs just $149—a fraction of the original.
