HP and Enfora have partnered to deliver a comprehensive asset management solution that enables you to remotely locate, manage, and update your assets over the air (OTA). HP mProve comes pre-integrated into many of Enfora’s Spider® MT and AT platforms, as well the Enabler Low Power Platform (LPP) enabling the firmware for both the modem and the micro-controller to be upgraded over the air.

The OTA firmware update capability eliminates the need for an enterprise to recall or replace an asset to correct software-related defects reducing the logistical and customer support costs. Also, the ability to update all assets to the same firmware version helps streamline the management process of deployed assets. In addition, mProve enables a customer to alleviate risks associated with time-to-market constraints through the delivery of firmware updates at any point during the deployment cycle.

The end-to-end solution for firmware updates enables you to address these market constraints:

Industry Issue HP mProve Solution
Limited Bandwidth. The wireless data channel has small throughput capacity limiting the size of updates and data transfer rates can be significant.
Small Update Packages. Advanced compression algorithms minimize Update Package size to streamline the distribution and mitigate data costs.
Available Memory. There is limited flash memory for Update Package storage, the firmware update process, and the software agent.
Low Memory Requirements. mProve’s unique optimization techniques enable devices to make the best use of memory for fast updates and efficient storage of revenue generating applications.
Power Failure. During the software update process if power is lost due to battery failure or other means, the device will be unusable or a “brick”.
100% Fault Tolerance. mProve’s update process recover from interruptions such as power loss, network failure, or unpredictable user behavior with complete fault tolerance, ensuring a successful update.
Complex Architectures. Today’s device architectures include multiple processors, compressed images, file systems, and software using various types of files.
Platform Agnostic. mProve’s patented algorithms are designed specifically for complex environments and are optimized to update files having various types,
Limited CPU Power. To preserve battery life, the processing power of CPUs in devices is much more limited than the power found in PCs and notebooks.
Mach 1x. HP’s Mach 1x update technology minimizes computational requirements and significantly reduces the overall firmware update time.
