WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management) is a DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force) standard based on the CIM (Common Information Management) model.
WBEM allows customers to manage their systems consistently across multiple platforms and operating systems, providing integrated solutions that optimize your infrastructure for greater operational efficiency.
WBEM enables management applications to retrieve system information and request system operations wherever and whenever required.

 |

| HP WBEM solutions include WBEM Services, WBEM Providers, HP WBEM Clients and HP WBEM SDK (Software Development Kit) for the operating environments as listed above. |

- HP WBEM Services provide an industry-standard enterprise management framework and resource description. WBEM's structured framework is capable of being extended and uses internet standards. For developers of management applications, this means you can take advantage of work that has previously been done to expose resource information and operations through WBEM.
- HP WBEM Providers are the management instrumentation that provide data such as device type and memory configuration as well as performing actions on a specified device.
- HP WBEM Clients are WBEM enabled management applications that provide the user interface and functionality system administrators need to manage their environment.
- HP WBEM SDK allows developers to develop WBEM clients and providers.

HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) is the foundation for HP's unified infrastructure management strategy. HP SIM uses WBEM to provide hardware level management for HP ProLiant, Integrity, and HP 9000 servers; HP BladeSystems; and HP StorageWorks MSA, EVA, and XP storage arrays. HP SIM also provides management of non-HP gear through industry standards.
HP SIM alone is an effective unified infrastructure management tool. When used in conjunction with Essentials plug-ins, it becomes a comprehensive, easy-to-use platform that enables organizations to holistically control their Windows, HP-UX, Linux, and NonStop environments.

| System Fault Management (SysFaultMgmt) is a collection of providers for monitoring the health of HP servers and getting information about hardware, such as memory and CPU. These providers operate within the Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) environment. |

| System Management Homepage (SMH) for HP-UX is a single-system Web-based management portal that combines Web-based system management tools and HP-UX System Adminstration Manager (SAM) X-Windows-based system management tools. SMH is used to manage accounts for users and groups; perform auditing and security functions; tune kernel parameters for enhanced system performance; handle disk, file system, and peripheral device management; view and administer WBEM indications; and monitor system and hardware status. SMH represents the next generation GUI for SAM. |
