HP Global Workload Manager, also known as gWLM,  is an intelligent policy engine that automatically allocates resources among multiple workloads to increase server utilization while meeting service levels for high-priority applications. Designed to work across multiple HP-UX 11i, OpenVMS and Linux environments, HP Global Workload Manager is ideal for large, centralized IT environments that host applications for many departments.

A key component of the HP Virtual Server Environment, HP Global Workload Manager helps organizations pool and share IT resources to improve utilization and align supply with demand. It monitors workloads based on policy goals and automatically migrates CPUs from idle workloads to busy ones, and from lower priority workloads to higher ones to give critical applications the resources they need. This product integrates with utility pricing to activate and deactivate additional resources based on real-time requirements.

HP Global Workload Manager helps your organization:

  • Run many applications on large numbers of systems, or partitions or processor sets within those systems
  • Monitor the environment, generate reports on how resources are being used, and provide audits for business owner resolution via a Web-based central management system that is integrated with HP Systems Insight Manager
  • Configure and deploy the HP Global Workload Manager environment quickly using standard policies and out-of-the-box reports integration
  • Assure internal customers get the resources they need when they need them

HP Global Workload Manager runs on HP Integrity Servers, HP 9000 Servers and HP OpenVMS AlphaServers.
