We at HP categorizes solid state technology into four connection models:
- Memory modules via the processor or memory bus
- Mezzanine or PCIe PCA’s for I/O acceleration
- Solid state technology as a drop in replacement for traditional hard drives
- Appliance-like self-contained solutions for external attachment
While every spinning disk in a server, storage device, workstation, desktop or notebook is a candidate for solid state storage, not every application is suited for it. What’s more, the solid state storage solution needed in each of these areas is not the same. Whether your application or server environment requires larger memory capability, I/O acceleration, high performance storage in existing infrastructure or an externally attached specialized device, rest assured that HP is investigating an appropriate solution.
