These common scenarios are most likely addressed through a costly face-to-face customer visit, a hardware replacement, or in many cases are overlooked and result in a disgruntled or lost subscriber.

HP’s award-winning and patented mProve software solution for mobile device management helps device manufacturers and service providers address these scenarios. HP mProve is the result of years of experience in standards groups, close collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and the successful commercial deployment of device management (DM) solutions. HP mProve has been commercially deployed by leading manufacturers worldwide and is used in diverse industries such as mobile phones, point-of-sale devices, telematics, GPS terminals, etc.

mPROVE
HP mProve FOTA
HP mProve FOTA is a comprehensive client-side software suite, designed to be embedded in a mobile device to enable over-the-air firmware updates. It addresses a wide range of architectures, complex use cases such as the update of compressed firmware images, to a growing list of open operating systems such as Symbian, Android, Microsoft Windows™, Linux, and propriety operating systems designed specifically for mobile devices.

HP mProve FOTA Generator. This PC-based application has been designed in collaboration with OEMs. It compares the firmware of two software images and creates an Update Package. The Update Package is comprised of a set of data instructions for transforming the software image from the source version to the intended target version.

HP mProve FOTA Agent. The agent resides on the device and contains the algorithms to decrypt, validate, and process the incoming Update Package. It interprets the instructions to re-flash the firmware or software component on the device in a secure, fault-tolerant manner. The Mach 1x™ algorithm delivers a fast update experience.

HP mProve Device Management (DM)
This client software resides on the device and handles communication with an OMA standards-based server for device management. This client software manages the mobile experience by supporting these industry standards:

  • OMA DM versions 1.1.2 and 1.2
  • OMA DL (Download) version 1.0
  • OMA DM FUMO (Firmware Update Management Object) version 1.0
  • OMA DM LAWMO (Lock and Wipe Management Object) Candidate Specification
  • OMA DM SCOMO (Software Component Management Object) Candidate Specification

The HP mProve solution enables device manufacturers, operators, and machine-to-machine providers the capability to reduce customer care and support costs, mitigate the opportunity costs of firmware defects, increase adoption of value-added services, and enhance brand loyalty.
