PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 13, 2007 – To help Oracle applications customers simplify and improve performance during upgrades, HP today announced new Quality Management software for Oracle® E-Business Suite Release 12, and new Database Archiving software for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0."
As the amount of corporate information grows and companies look to upgrade databases and applications, they need assurances that their mission critical business processes, such as financial management and payroll processing, remain up and running. HP’s new Quality Management and Database Archiving offerings now meet Oracle’s stringent integration standards and help customers ensure that their applications will function properly and continue to meet the performance requirements of the business.
“Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft customers are looking at modernizing systems, while continuing to manage their existing Oracle environments,” said Robin Purohit, vice president and general manager, Information Management Group, Software, HP. “HP is helping customers gain a better return on their Oracle investments by accelerating the upgrade process and reducing the amount of their IT budgets that is consumed by testing business application processes.”
HP Quality Management – Test Starter Kit: Part of HP’s Business Technology Optimization Portfolio
As part of its HP Quality Management portfolio, HP, in collaboration with Oracle, has introduced a new “Test Starter Kit” that provides out-of-the-box functionality to accelerate testing for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
Available through Oracle’s MetaLink site for Oracle E-Business Suite customers, the Test Starter Kit contains a set of test plans, manuals and automated test scripts for the core business processes in the Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as Best Practices documentation that describes how to use HP tools to validate functionality and performance of Oracle applications. This test package makes it possible for customers to develop a strategy for future migration and upgrade to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
Specifically, the HP Test Starter Kit includes:
- Best Practices documentation to shorten the learning curve for Quality Assurance (QA) personnel using HP automated testing tools for validating Oracle E-Business Suite;
- Automated scripts to help prove the compatibility between HP’s tools set and Oracle E-Business Suite technologies;
- A Library of Oracle custom functions that speed up the process of creating new test scripts;
- A set of prepackaged, automated functional and performance scripts, as well as manual tests, that provide a basic verification for the new installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12; and
- A template of HP Quality Center projects to manage test planning and execution.

HP Database Archiving software: Part of HP’s Business Information Optimization Portfolio
HP is the first Oracle partners in the industry to complete integration validation of an archiving solution with all models of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 and PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0. HP Database Archiving software (formerly HP Reference Information Manager for Databases), is an open, vendor-independent active archiving solution for Oracle-based applications that dramatically improves enterprise application performance and availability, retains information for regulatory compliance, recycles tier 1 storage to reduce costs, and manages test data to streamline application test and change. The validation underscores HP’s commitment to delivering Information Management solutions that mitigate business risk associated with e-Discovery, corporate governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
This validation is also important because it gives HP Database Archiving software customers assurance regarding the integrity of their systems is upheld. Other customer benefits include:
- Enabling faster performance and manageability of databases;
- Meeting compliance requirements for near- and long-term retention of business transactions; and
- Establishing aggressive data retention policies as a result of “transparent access” (no re-training of business users to access archived data).
