There are several important aspects to consider when migrating from IBM servers to HP.

1. Manageability-- Take control of your IT

The HP SIM enables single-pane management of your entire environment, greatly increasing efficiency, expandability, and the ability to react to change.  SIM, enabling enterprise management integration, is composed of ProLiant Essentials, Integrity Essentials, Storage Essentials, and client and printer management software.

2. Cost performance-- Increase power and cut costs

Per the results of recent TPC-H test results* documented at http://www.tpc.org, a single HP system delivered 95% of the performance of a cluster of 16 IBM systems at a total system cost that was $1.8 million less expensive.  The IBM p5 575 system cost was $8,467,124, while the HP Integrity Superdome was $6,681,114.

3. Virtualization-- Boost your efficiency

HP nPartitions offer full electrical and software isolation.  This enables complete system isolation and the ability to service one partition while others are online.

IBM LPARs do not have electrical isolation.  This means that when one partition needs servicing, the system requires a full shut-down.
