SAP and HP have been strategic partners for nearly 2 decades; nearly 50% of all SAP deployments are running on HP technology. As newer SAP applications become more CPU-, memory- and disk-intensive, HP’s Integrity platform is ideal to address mission-critical SAP environments.

A comprehensive, extensible ERP platform that supports your key business activities
A single IT solution for running all your business activities can help you control and streamline operations, optimize use of resources, and simplify your IT infrastructure. With SAP ERP running on HP Integrity servers, you'll be able to lower costs while improving the ability of your enterprise to respond to changes in the marketplace.
Reference architectures have been designed and built by the HP SAP Competency Center in Walldorf based on years of SAP sizing and implementation experience. Many customers have implemented their SAP environments based on standard configurations designed by HP.
Reference configurations are built on standard HP Integrity products and range from 300 to 2500 users. They incorporate unique HP software capabilities, such as HP Serviceguard Extensions for SAP for increased security, availability, and virtualization.
Contact a channel partner or HP sales representative to take advantage of these reference architectures.

Substantially improved IT systems performance
The proven speed, reliability, and scalability of HP Integrity servers give SAP ERP the power needed to help your mission-critical business processes support your business better. HP Integrity servers are based on Dual-Core Intel® Itanium® processors and are well-equipped to handle the large memory support and high system bandwidth required by SAP ERP.
HP Integrity systems use multi-threading, large memory addressing, fast I/O, Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) and virtualization to respond instantly to real-time transactions and handle demanding end-of-period batch processing loads. The EPIC capability executes up to 6 instructions simultaneously for substantially faster processing.
HP Integrity servers integrate tightly with SAP ERP through specialized solutions like HP OpenView Smart Plug-in for SAP and HP StorageWorks rapid backup for SAP Business Suite. The HP-UX 11i operating system has also been fully optimized to enhance SAP ERP performance. |

Productivity you dream about

Hardware and services that minimize deployment risk and disruption
SAP ERP on HP Integrity servers is fully compatible with SAP R/3 on HP 9000 servers, so you can deploy in phases to suit your needs. The HP-UX 11i operating system shares a common code base with HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers, making the transition easier and less risky than a deployment that involves moving to a completely new operating system. In addition, HP 9000 servers can be upgraded to HP Integrity technology with non-disruptive in-box board swaps, preserving the value of the rest of the server.
The professional services organizations of HP and SAP offer unique tools and expertise to help you assess, design, implement and manage your deployment. HP, SAP and Intel engage in joint product planning and development activities to deliver tightly integrated solutions that are tested and certified at both the HP SAP Competency Center and HP SAP Solution Centers worldwide.
HP transition assistance helps you deploy HP Integrity systems quickly and easily, and includes planning, proof of concept, implementation, support and education. A wide range of tools from web-based training to classroom instruction, white papers and how-to guides provide the knowledge you need to manage your deployment with confidence.

A better approach to building and deploying new business processes
SAP ERP is powered by SAP NetWeaver, which reduces IT complexity by unifying technology components into a single business process platform. It provides the best way to integrate systems by providing tools that connect business processes across disparate systems and databases.
New and improved business processes can be composed and implemented rapidly using the SAP NetWeaver service-oriented architecture and web services, providing new levels of flexibility for building connected applications within and beyond the enterprise. Because it is based on industry standards, SAP ERP can be extended with commonly used development tools such as J2EE, IBM WebSphere and Microsoft .NET, which makes developers more productive and application development less costly. SAP NetWeaver also enables you to leverage existing software to support new business processes and strategies without having to write customized code.

With HP Integrity servers, virtualization is built in as the foundation of a highly adaptable, mission-critical infrastructure—one that has the robust capabilities, energy-efficiency, and unified management that allows you to make the most efficient use of capital investments and staff resources.
Integrity goes beyond basic machine virtualization: it provides a comprehensive, highly integrated virtual server environment that is incredibly robust. Typical UNIX server utilization is 20 to 30%, leaving under-utilized servers to escalate costs in many ways. With HP Virtual Server Environment (VSE), you see double—if not triple—utilization of your server resource.
HP Integrity systems provide intelligent, energy-efficient technologies that can deliver energy savings as high as 50%. Integrity integrates fully with Dynamic Smart Cooling, the first solution to automate and optimize data center HVAC systems.
Last, Integrity provides unified management that lets you manage the infrastructure through a single interface. You can manage servers, storage and application resources across multiple operating systems with less effort and staff time.

For many customers, availability translates to the bottom line—for profit or for delivering a mission-critical service. With HP Integrity systems, you can provide the right level of availability for every application, every user, every time. You get the iconic mainframe-class availability and disaster tolerance, with the advantages of open systems and industry-standard economics. Integrity lets you choose the level of availability and disaster tolerance you need, from enterprise-class environments up to NonStop systems, engineered for up to 100% availability against planned and unplanned downtime.
HP Integrity running HP-UX 11i and Linux can deliver continuous SAP availability with HP Serviceguard Extension for SAP (SGeSAP). You can perform rolling upgrades and isolate faults without bringing the entire system down. Serviceguard can also be used as a transition tool for moving to HP Integrity from HP 9000 servers. Alternately, it allows a group of HP 9000 systems and HP Integrity servers to be configured as a highly available cluster that supports globally-dispersed SAP environments. HP Cluster Consistency Monitor Service (CCmon) for SAP delivers a diagnostic tool spotting potential disruptions to critical applications running on HP Integrity clusters. Both HP Serviceguard and CCmon, are tightly integrated to exploit the best features of HP enterprise clusters and SAP applications: high availability, data integrity, flexibility, scalability and reduced database administration costs.
Integrity unifies the protection of IT resources as a whole—with integrated and adaptive security. Our unified and layered approach to security delivers an affordable, manageable and comprehensive answer to the growing cost and complexity of enterprise security, while meeting regulatory requirements for security and information compliance.
