VUB Bank runs 207 retail branches, 35 corporate branches, and 11 mortgage centers across Slovakia. Over the last several years, the bank has focused on expanding its services and market reach, while at the same time controlling costs.
The bank has two data centers, one kilometer from each other. Its storage environment was aging, and the service contract for it had run out. The storage required a good deal of troubleshooting and maintenance, which required considerable IT staff time. Downtime sometimes affected customer and employee access to banking applications and services. The bank was looking for a scalable, reliable storage solution that would eliminate outages, improve performance, consolidate storage, and provide a common platform for mainframe and Open Systems.
