» Global citizenship: supply chain responsibility

At HP, we maintain strict environmental standards for ourselves; we ask our partners to do the same. That’s no small request. The global scope of our supply chain and our value as a customer provide us the opportunity to impact the human rights, health, safety, environmental and ethical performance of the thousands of businesses worldwide that constitute our supply chain. We spend approximately $50 billion annually to procure materials, components, manufacturing and distribution services for our products. Our supply chain spans about 600 suppliers worldwide, with more than 300,000 workers at the supplier sites where our products are made.

Like founders Dave Hewlett and Bill Packard, we remain committed to being a positive force in the communities in which we operate and ask our partners to do the same. Investing in supply chain social and environmental responsibility (SER) meets stakeholder expectations, protects our reputation and decreases risks to HP from inadequate supplier standards.

Although our industry has made considerable progress, we continue to face the challenge of achieving HP's SER standards at each of our suppliers' factories.
