The Wireless Caller Name (WCN) service delivers the name of the calling party to a called number's mobile handset prior to call delivery. WCN performs any necessary message conversion between wireless networks and calling name databases. WCN also supports local service provider and city-state databases, as well as Internet or Wireless Application Protocol access for a list of incoming caller names. By having access to the name of the calling party, subscribers gain additional flexibility in deciding how to treat the call (for instance, they may answer or let the call ring through to voice mail).
