The Virtual Caller Identification (VCID) service stores a list of incoming call numbers when the phone is turned off and delivers a text message to the handset with the number of the calling party, time of the call, and how many times the party called. The service also provides single-touch call-back, making it easy for subscribers to return calls. This information is sent to the mobile user through short message service (SMS), Internet, or Wireless Application Protocol/General Packet Radio Service. VCID may be combined with Wireless Caller Name for a more robust solution, giving subscribers the name in addition to the number of the last caller.
Why HP?
- VCID encourages subscriber call-backs, resulting in increased minutes of use and incremental revenue
- Carriers avoid often costly billing system changes, since carriers can charge for VCID using a simple SMS tariff
- Service can be bundled with Wireless Caller Name (CNAME) for a more robust solution
