man and woman talking

OpenChat is the only chatting solution available today that allows users to switch from chat to voice for a richer, more personal chat experience. It extends the chatting experience from short messaging to anonymous-person-to-person live-voice speech. OpenChat provides consumers with a valuable service and offers service providers and mobile operators the potential for additional revenue streams and increased traffic on their networks.

HP OpenChat supports voice, short message service (SMS), Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), Web, and Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD). This flexibility and range of communications features enables mobile operators and service providers to provide service to more consumers with greater flexibility, more options, and a richer experience. This solution uses HP-UX hardware and Netservers, HP OpenCall SS7 software stack, and software from Yomi Vision.

For end users, the value proposition of the solution is that instead of just writing or short messaging, they can talk live with their chatting partner-and still remain anonymous. For the operator, this means more network traffic and an opportunity to charge premium rates. HP simplifies the delivery of this solution by pre-integrating Interactive Voice Services products and HP software and providing a multi-faceted solution with all the advantages of a complete, single solution.

HP OpenChat's multi-access capability supports more protocols than any other chat solution, including voice, short message service, Web, WAP, and USSD. Others support only SMS, Web, and WAP, while HP OpenChat supports voice and data, as well as USSD. In addition, HP OpenChat provides additional functionality, such as mobile advertising, chatroom broadcast, and TellyChat to-and-from televisions.
