Overview

The HPC/SCI Oil and Gas and Windows HPC Server (HPCS) 2008 Resource Room is a service offered to HP partners and end user customers who need to benchmark, experiment, and design solutions on ProLiant DL and BL servers in a clustered environment based on industry standard Linux and Windows HPCS offerings from Red Hat, Novell, and Microsoft. The Resource Room is open to all HP software partners interested in working with HP on a range of Linux and Microsoft reference solution stacks to benchmark, perform proof-of-concepts, migrate, and insure compatibility from the hardware platform to the end user application operating in an industry standard Linux or Microsoft software environment.

The latest ProLiant X86 Xeon and Opteron based servers are provided in the two labs; one for Windows HPCS, and one for Oil & Gas evaluations, each with separate VPN access. Note that the operating system for the Oil & Gas servers can be specified by the user, with both Linux and Windows HPCS accommodated.  The Oil & Gas lab has a full complement of Fibre Channel and SCSI storage.

The labs are periodically refreshed with the latest models, and support the following HP products:

ProLiant DL and Blade Systems using dual-core and quad-core processors

The HPC/SCI Resource Room request process

The HP partner or HP Enterprise Account Manager or Solution Architect who submits the following account request information to the HPC ISV lab mail box – mailto:hpc-isv@groups.hp.com.

The HPC/SCI Resource Room can support Proof of Concept projects, validation of software with existing supported Linux and Microsoft operating system versions in conjunction with the HP configured clusters as specified in the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio definitions. Please refer to http://www.hp.com/go/hptc  for a description.

The Oil & Gas lab is in Houston, and can be accessed after approval either in person on site or remotely.  Both the Oil & Gas and Windows HPCS labs are accessed via a secure VPN link directly between your remote site and the clusters to which you have been assigned.
