Q1. What is the HP Integrity Essentials Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit?

A1. The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit is a server deployment product for unattended automated server Windows or Linux installations.  The Toolkit is designed to configure Integrity server hardware in an unattended fashion and ready to integrate with a Windows or Linux OS unattended installation solution.  The Toolkit is based on a Linux environment and does scripting in the BASH language.

Q2. What operating systems does the Toolkit support?

A2. The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit for Windows supports the unattended installation of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition onto Integrity servers.

The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit for Linux supports the unattended installation of  Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 onto selected Integrity servers.

Q3. What server hardware does the Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit support?

A3. The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit for Windows supports the Integrity servers rx1620, rx2620, rx2660, rx4640, rx3600, rx6600, rx7620, rx7640, rx8620, rx8640, and Superdome (sx1000 and sx2000) servers.

The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit for Linux supports the Integrity servers BL860c, rx1620, rx2620, rx2660, rx4640, rx3600, rx6600.

Q4. Do I need Smart Setup to use the Toolkit?

A4. The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit does not require the use of the Integrity Foundation Pack Smart Setup CDs. However, the Smart Setup CDs contain drivers and utilities that enhance the functionality of the target server. These drivers and utilities can be copied to the custom installation CD or to the shared network drive.

Q5. Can the Toolkit be used to install Integrity Support Software?

A5. Yes. The Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit is a deployment tool that relies on the unattended installation capabilities of the executable file that it runs to deploy an operating system or install an application onto a target system.  Refer to the Best Practices section of the Deployment Guide for more information.

Q6. How is the Toolkit made available?

A6. The Toolkit can be downloaded at no charge.

Q7.  Does the Smart Setup Scripting Toolkit use the PXE environment?

A7. Yes, the Pre-boot eXecution Environment (PXE) is a feature that allows a server to boot from a remote PXE-enabled server.  The source server must be configured with a PXE capable image, and the target server must be enabled for PXE (default for Integrity servers is PXE enabled).

Q8. What accessories are supported?

A8. All standard Integrity I/O accessories are supported.  See the product documentation for instructions on use with SAN boot from Fibre Channel cards.
