The Alberta Pensions Administration Corporation is one of the largest public-sector pension administrators in Canada. The Corporation administers seven statutory pension plans and two supplementary retirement plans on behalf of the Trustee, the Government of Alberta, and 472 employers – and has more than 149,000 active members and 56,000 pensioners. APA Corporation must retain records for as long as 70 years and, as a result, are required to store millions of documents. They are moving from a paper and microfiche-based information system, which is inefficient, costly and does not include electronic files, to a single enterprise-wide system that will provide immediate access to all information – and have the appropriate retention and disposition schedules applied to ensure Legislative compliance.
