HP and Cisco are collaborating on IPv6 to overcome mobility and address space limitations of IPv4. IPv6 is the next generation of Internet Protocol (IP) that offers expanded IP addresses, integrated auto-configuration for plug-and-play capabilities, enhanced mobility, and end-to-end security. IPv6 will eventually enable seamless handoffs between WLAN and 3G wireless networks. Today, IPv6 appeals to early adopter customers in military and government bodies, large research networks around the globe, service providers, and even the gaming and home networking industries.
Cisco has been delivering the industry's most comprehensive IPv6 network infrastructure through routers and switches running Cisco IOS® Software. HP is implementing IPv6 in hardware, software and operating systems to enable business applications to run IPv6-enabled networks in support of growing customer adoption. By working together, HP and Cisco help companies and government entities gain the agility needed to meet the growing demands of mobile users.
