Shannon Ramsey:
Installing the network was probably one of the greatest things we’ve ever done.

Ian Hoffman:
I wouldn’t say technology is very deep.  I’d say technology is the Exchange.

Shannon Ramsey:
It’s a productivity enhancer.  It’s a functionality enhancer.

Ian Hoffman:
The first thing for us was – let’s get the network right.

Shannon Ramsey:
Security is always an issue.

Ian Hoffman:
Four trillion pounds of business.  That’s what we transact.  We have 90,000 terminals worldwide where people actually get all our trading prices in sub-seconds.  We can’t be down.

Shannon Ramsey:
Inside the store you’ve got the folks at the pumps.  There’s somebody inside at the ATM getting cash.  There is somebody at the sales register number one purchasing a money order.  Somebody at sales register number two is cashing a check.  There are people shopping at the store, bringing their purchases up to the front.  They all want to pay by credit card.

Ian Hoffman:
The biggest change for us is the ability to now have “hot-desking” which is supported the voice-over IP Cisco telephone systems we’ve deployed.  That really adds innovation.  That really adds value.

Shannon Ramsey:
Faster time to market.  We were able to deploy those rechargeable phone card machines within a matter of weeks rather than months and months.

Ian Hoffman:
It’s more than just a phone system.  Layering in the network, laying in the servers, laying in the voice-over telephone system, putting the integrated messaging in place, allowing people to go and work together has really yielded massive benefits.  The core thing which underwrites all of our deliverables is business agility, which is key to any business no matter how it works or what it does. And we’ve really got partners who know what they’re doing.  They’ve enabled us to communicate far quicker, far more effectively and far more reliably.

Shannon Ramsey:
We need agile vendors.  HP and Cisco fit that bill very nicely.  They’ve always been able to innovate with us.

Ian Hoffman:
Our integrity is without question so therefore we will only choose the best suppliers.

Shannon Ramsey:
It was as if we were dealing with one company.  When we dealt with HP we were also dealing with Cisco.

Ian Hoffman:
When you’ve got three companies together – Cisco, HP and the London Stock Exchange – working together in partnership, how could we not hit the mark?
