Virtualization is becoming very important in the data center infrastructure as companies look to cut costs by consolidating hardware and developing new approaches to accessing applications. XEN is an open-source virtualization project from the Linux community that can unlock the capabilities of the new HP ProLiant hardware supporting VT (Virtual Technology) from both Intel and AMD.

Novell is the first major Linux distribution to include XEN in a release, with Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. As interest in virtualization continues to grow and XEN matures, HP and Novell will continue to look for solutions focused on XEN virtualization, and HP and Novell solutions engineers work in tandem to deliver documented best practices for Linux, XEN and virtualization. Our on-going objective of achieving the highest level of product integration achievable results in a virtual handshake between engineering teams.
